WE SHARE THE PASSION FOR FREEDIVING

We are a mexican freediving school, Hipoxia Freediving started in 2019 with two instructors: Arturo Hernandez and Montserrat Peart, both from the SSI (Scuba Schools International) agency. Our mission is to train responsible freedivers, transmit the passion for our beautiful sport, so that every day there are more mexicans who practice and compete at an international level.

Arturo

He began approximately twenty years ago in scuba diving at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) also collaborating as a monitor and instructor. Since then he learned freediving and began to practice it along with scuba, in addition to acquiring experience of technical cave diving. Later he was professionally trained in freediving and worked for three years with Alejandro Lemus, national champion. Arturo has been practicing freediving recreationally for 20 years and professionally for 5 years, collaborating with the growth and dissemination of this sport in Mexico. He has participated in different national competitions, as an organizer, competitor, coach and safety diver.

Montserrat

She has been practicing freediving for five years, during her first year she practiced it recreationally, surprising herself with the marine life in the Sea of Cortez and with her aquatic skills that she still did not know. By training and becoming professionally certified, her passion for the sport grew as well as her curiosity to participate in freediving competitions, starting a new adventure. She has three years of experience at a competitive level, she has participated in six competitions where she has obtained great achievements: five national records, national first place (AIDA) in 2019 and 2021. She established new national record the last september with 65 meters depth in constant weight bi-fins discipline.

She has been an SSI instructor for two years, transmitting her knowledge, passion and experience to new freedivers.
